The Big Reveal: Sheriff starts work on new homes for Round Green< Back to Blog
Exciting news from Sheriff Construction!
After several months of negotiations and planning activity, we’re delighted to announce our next property development project in Luton.
Having secured ownership of the Round Green Tavern (at the top of Stockingstone Road), we’re planning to convert this site into ten properties (a mix of one and two-bedroom apartments), plus some commercial space at ground level which has already attracted the interest of a local estate agent.
(No more chicken shops here!)
Before anyone bemoans the loss of another public house in the town, the previous owners were clear that the business had been running at a loss for some time and so was no longer viable. It’s also worth pointing out that the site of this development is opposite another thriving Greene King pub (The Jolly Toppers) which we’re sure will continue to serve the local community well with its selection of food and beverages.
Sheriff’s team have put a lot of time and thought into the planning stage for this development and have come up with a unique design where the three levels rise from the rear of the building in a staggered fashion, a feature which allows the front of the building to retain much of its original character. Details like parapets and gables will add to that sense of history.
As with our previous property developments, Sheriff is committed to maintaining professional standards throughout the building and, as well as ensuring the high quality of structural works, all of the new flats will feature beautifully integrated kitchens, modern bathrooms and ample parking.
In our view, the end result will be a collection of low-rise properties that proportionally and stylistically blend well with the local area and contribute towards improving the availability of desirable properties in the town.
We’ll keep you posted as this project progresses.
