Sheriff’s team in Dubai!

Twelve members of Sheriff’s top team have just returned from a five day trip to Dubai, a reward from the company for all their hard work and loyalty over recent years!

Including Company Directors, Contract Managers, Site Managers and Foremen, the team were treated to a stayover in a five star hotel plus an itinerary of site seeing trips and meals out.

Rewarding our team

An all expenses paid trip to Dubai for twelve people may sound like something of an extravagance, particularly given the current circumstances around rising business costs and a housebuilding slowdown.

However, despite the pressures of recent years, Sheriff Construction has still managed to grow the business and much of this success has only been possible due to the dedication given by employees and subcontractors who work across our brickwork and roofing divisions.

Managing Director, Ekrem Mahmutaj, commented:

“Whilst it’s not been without its challenges, we’ve fortunately been able to build up our company to the point where we’re now taking on multi-million pound contracts. Nobody is responsible for this achievement alone. It’s been a team effort and so we decided it was time to reward our team for their ongoing loyalty and commitment. The trip also acted as a great team bonding experience.”

So, what happened in Dubai?

There’s a saying that goes “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.” Well, the same cannot be said for this trip to Dubai because we’re about to tell you all about it!

Aside from enjoying some relaxation time (drinks by the poolside, shopping, beach time etc.), our guys had an itinerary of trips which included:

  • 4-wheel drive sand safari followed by dinner in the desert
  • Sea cruise by yacht with dinner
  • Visit to the Burj Khalifa, which at 160 storeys is the tallest building in the world
  • Camel riding in the desert

With all of that, it’s not hard to see why our team were (quite literally) jumping for joy!

Digitising our workforce management for improved control, safety and efficiency

Sheriff Construction has recently introduced the Causeway ‘Donseed’ digital workforce management system across both our brickwork and roofing divisions.

Usually used by companies much larger than us, we took the decision to keep up with this latest technology, which is giving us greater control of our sites, improving safety and increasing efficiency. Find out more in this week’s blog.

Men’s Health Week special: Time to get cancer aware

This week (10th – 16th June) is Men’s Health Week. Organised by the Men’s Health Forum, the week seeks to encourage all men to talk about and address any health concerns they may be experiencing.

When we think about health risks in construction, we usually consider things like physical injuries, musculoskeletal disorders or lung issues caused by exposure to dust and pollutants. What are the pros and cons of Brownfield sites?

With the housing crisis consistently listed among the top five issues facing the UK, it’s been interesting to note what the two main political parties are saying about this in the run up to the general election.

While the conservative party have not revealed many housing-related plans as yet, Labour are promising to build 1.5m new homes in the first five years of a labour government and say that brownfield sites will be the number one priority. Everybody’s talking about the Big Weekend!

In case you missed it, Radio 1’s Big Weekend just came to our home town, Luton – entertaining over 100,000 people during three days of fantastic live music – including performances from Rudimental, Raye, Chase & Status, Ella Henderson, Olly Alexander and, of course, Sunday’s stunning headliner, Coldplay.
