Two more Sheriff-sponsored football teams soar to success

After witnessing a local girls football team that’s backed by Sheriff Construction triumph just a couple of weeks ago, this weekend we were thrilled to see two more of our sponsored teams soar to the top of their game.

Both FC Polonia (Luton) U11s and Stevenage Futsal Ballers U12s have achieved some amazing results throughout the season, culminating with Cup Final wins this Sunday! Take a look at our quick-read blog for more.

Why we support grass roots football

Sheriff Construction has been supporting local football teams for around six years, helping the teams out by sponsoring elements of the kit they need. We currently have three teams under our sponsorship and although all have a friend or family connection with our company, this is not the only reason behind our sponsorship.

It’s our belief that sports teams are a great way for children and young people to be physically active and foster a healthy lifestyle; develop essential life skills like teamwork, leadership and strategy; experience good mental health; and of course make friends and have fun.

The success of all three teams that we’ve backed this season has been remarkable.

FC Polonia (Luton) U11s

Having already finished top of their league, FC Polonia (Luton) U11 boys headed to Flitwick Football Centre for their Cup Final on Sunday 19^th May. In a close and sometimes tense game against AFC Dunstable U11s, our team came out top, taking the trophy with a 4:3 scoreline.

Stevenage Futsal Ballers U12s

Playing in the Mid Herts League, Stevenage Futsall Ballers U12s had already emerged as undefeated champions and triumphed in the Soccer Elite Cup last December. That meant they advanced to the League Cup Final which they also won on Sunday, beating their opponents 2:0.

A spokesperson for the team said:

“I would like to express our sincerest gratitude for your invaluable sponsorship. Your commitment and dedication to our team have made a substantial difference, and we are immensely grateful for your partnership.”

We know that these teams have all worked hard to reach the top of their game and are proud to have played a small part in that by sponsoring their kits.

Digitising our workforce management for improved control, safety and efficiency

Sheriff Construction has recently introduced the Causeway ‘Donseed’ digital workforce management system across both our brickwork and roofing divisions.

Usually used by companies much larger than us, we took the decision to keep up with this latest technology, which is giving us greater control of our sites, improving safety and increasing efficiency. Find out more in this week’s blog.

Arriving on the construction scene as a small gang of builders back in 2005, we have grown into a much larger enterprise that now comprises of two construction companies (Sheriff Construction and Sheriff Brickworks) plus two property development companies.

Men’s Health Week special: Time to get cancer aware

This week (10th – 16th June) is Men’s Health Week. Organised by the Men’s Health Forum, the week seeks to encourage all men to talk about and address any health concerns they may be experiencing.

When we think about health risks in construction, we usually consider things like physical injuries, musculoskeletal disorders or lung issues caused by exposure to dust and pollutants. But did you know that construction also has the largest burden of occupational cancer amongst the industrial sectors? Please read this week’s blog for some advice on what you can do to reduce the risks and/or catch cancer early.

What are the pros and cons of Brownfield sites?

With the housing crisis consistently listed among the top five issues facing the UK, it’s been interesting to note what the two main political parties are saying about this in the run up to the general election.

While the conservative party have not revealed many housing-related plans as yet, Labour are promising to build 1.5m new homes in the first five years of a labour government and say that brownfield sites will be the number one priority. As a subject that’s close to our business, we thought we’d use this week’s blog to explore the pros and cons of building on brownfield sites.



Everybody’s talking about the Big Weekend!

In case you missed it, Radio 1’s Big Weekend just came to our home town, Luton – entertaining over 100,000 people during three days of fantastic live music – including performances from Rudimental, Raye, Chase & Status, Ella Henderson, Olly Alexander and, of course, Sunday’s stunning headliner, Coldplay.
