SOCIAL VALUE METRIC – PEOPLE/ COMMUNITY

THE BACKGROUND

We were approached by our client, Fairview, with a request to deliver online workshops to Level 1 and Level 2 bricklaying students at Barnet College.

The sessions formed part of Fairview’s commitment to supporting the local community around the Victoria Quarter site, where Sheriff has been delivering a major brickwork contract.

OUR APPROACH

We allocated three members of our bricklaying team to deliver three workshops in December 2025 – two Contract Managers and our Apprentice QS.

The team was supported by our Head of Marketing in developing workshop content, which covered the background to our organisation, the day-to-day role of a bricklayer, the skills and attitudes needed for success, the variety and rewards of the profession, and examples from Sheriff Brickworks’ growing portfolio.

THE OUTCOME

Students who participated had the chance to ask questions, and many expressed a strong interest in joining Sheriff in the future.

Thank you so much for your time yesterday and today presenting careers information to our Bricklaying classes.  The students found the information valuable and no doubt it will help them to remain motivated to complete the course successfully and move onto employment / apprenticeships.

We would love to continue working with you and if you have time, have an in-person workshop on applications for the apprenticeship / training programme.  Almost all students are interested and happy to start from a position that will allow them to progress.”
