This Christmas, Sheriff Construction is giving something back to the community we call home – with a new initiative designed to help local children and young people get active, enjoy sport and make the most of the opportunities available to them.
Through our new Sheriff Active Youth Fund, we’re offering two local sports clubs, teams or physical activity groups the chance to receive £1,500 each to spend on new kits, sportswear or equipment.
We know that grassroots clubs and community groups play an important role in young people’s lives. As well as encouraging physical activity, they provide opportunities to build friendships, develop confidence, learn new skills and feel part of something special. Many rely on the dedication of volunteers and work hard to make their activities accessible to local families.
As a Luton-based business, we’re proud to support our local community and want to help these groups continue making a positive difference.
So, whether you’re involved in football, rugby, netball, boxing, gymnastics, dance, martial arts or another sport or physical activity, we’d love to hear your story!
What’s on offer?
Two successful clubs or groups will each receive £1,500 in sponsorship from Sheriff Construction.
The funding is intended to provide practical support that directly benefits children and young people taking part in organised sport or physical activity.
It could be used for:
- New team kits or sportswear
- New or replacement sports equipment
- Training equipment
- Other essential equipment that helps young people participate in your activities
We’re particularly interested in hearing how the funding would make a difference to your club and its young members.
Who can apply?
Applications are welcome from boys’, girls’ and mixed clubs, teams or organised community groups involved in any sport or physical activity.
To be eligible, your organisation must:
- Be based in Luton and primarily support the Luton community.
- Provide organised sport or physical activity for children or young people aged 18 or under.
- Be an established club, team or organised community group.
- Have a bank account in the name of your club or organisation.
- Be able to demonstrate how the £1,500 would directly benefit young participants.
- Be willing to provide appropriate recognition of Sheriff Construction’s sponsorship.
We want this opportunity to be accessible to smaller grassroots organisations, including those run by volunteers. You don’t need to be a large club or have an impressive track record of sporting achievements to apply.
How to apply
Applying is simple – just tell us your story!
We don’t want clubs to spend hours preparing complicated funding applications. Instead, we’re asking you to complete a short online form and tell us, in no more than 500 words:
- About your club: Who are you, what do you do and which young people do you support?
- What you need: What would you spend the £1,500 on?
- The difference it would make: How would this funding benefit your club and the children or young people who take part?
You can also submit one photograph to help tell your story, although this is entirely optional and won’t affect your application.
The form will ask for some basic contact information and confirmation that your club meets the eligibility criteria. We may ask shortlisted applicants to provide further information or evidence of their club’s status before awarding sponsorship.
Applications open: Monday 16 November 2026 at 9.00am
Closing date: Friday 11 December 2026 at 5.00pm

How will the winners be chosen?
Once applications have closed, all eligible entries will be reviewed by a judging panel from Sheriff Construction.
The panel will consider:
- Local impact: How the club supports children and young people in Luton.
- Need: Why the funding is needed.
- Difference made: What the £1,500 would enable the club to do.
- Your story: How clearly and genuinely the application communicates what the sponsorship would mean.
Two clubs or groups will be selected to receive £1,500 each.
The successful applicants will be announced before Christmas 2026, giving us the opportunity to share some good news with our local community during the festive season.
What happens if your club is successful?
The two successful clubs will be contacted directly by Sheriff Construction to confirm the award and arrange the sponsorship.
As this is a sponsorship initiative, rather than a traditional grant scheme, we will ask the successful clubs to provide an appropriate form of recognition for Sheriff’s support.
This could include displaying our logo on new kit, putting up a sponsorship banner at training sessions or events, or recognising our support through your club’s website or social media.
The precise arrangement will be agreed with each club, taking account of its activities and how the funding will be used.
We would also love to share the good news through Sheriff’s own website, social media and Social Value reporting, with appropriate permissions in place for any photographs or publicity involving children and young people.
Where possible, we may also look for opportunities to get involved with the successful clubs, such as attending an event, match or awards presentation.
Giving back to our community
At Sheriff Construction, we believe that creating social value means making a positive difference beyond the construction projects we deliver.
Our commitment extends to supporting our people, protecting the environment and contributing to the communities where we live and work.
