By combining practical action, responsible decision-making, embedded best practice, and a culture of continuous improvement, we aim to minimise harm, support a thriving natural environment and contribute to a more sustainable future for our industry and the communities it serves.
Recognising the impact construction can have on the natural environment, we take seriously our responsibility to reduce carbon emissions, use resources efficiently and protect the places where we work.
Alongside supporting our clients to implement their sustainability policies, we embed environmental responsibility into every stage of our operations – from procurement and construction planning to transport, waste management and the long-term performance of the buildings we help deliver.
Carbon reduction and transport
We take a proactive approach to reducing carbon emissions in the built environment – applying practical measures both in the buildings we help create and how we operate day-to-day.
- Supporting clients to deliver energy-efficient, low-emission projects
- Delivering housing that promotes low-carbon living and achieves a minimum EPC B rating (via Crestview Homes)
- Introducing lower-emission plant and equipment on site where feasible
- Planning logistics to reduce journeys, including bulk ordering and direct-to-site deliveries
- Maintaining a low-emission vehicle fleet and promoting fuel-efficient driving practices
Responsible procurement and supply chain
By embedding environmental considerations into our purchasing and supplier selection, we aim to work with partners who share our commitment to responsible construction and continuous improvement.
- Using a PQQ process to assess sustainability and ethical business practices
- Monitoring supplier performance and issuing corrective action where required
- Procuring materials and services locally and predominantly from within the UK
Waste reduction and resource efficiency
We take a practical approach to reducing waste and using resources efficiently – on site and at Head Office.
- Reusing, returning or recycling surplus materials wherever possible
- Working with suppliers to minimise packaging and remove delivery waste
- Promoting responsible recycling practices across our workforce
- Extending material life through reuse and upcycling initiatives
Biodiversity and the built environment
The construction sector has a role to play, not only in reducing environmental harm but also in supporting biodiversity and improving quality within the built environment.
- Supporting clients to enhance their projects’ environmental performance, including via the installation of green, blue and biodiverse roofing systems
- Operating in line with near zero-waste principles
- Promoting biodiversity by restoring and enhancing green space at our premises
Education, awareness and environmental culture
By embedding awareness into everyday activity, we’re creating a culture where environmental responsibility is owned and shared across the business.
- Delivering training and communications on environmentally responsible practices
- Encouraging engagement with the Supply Chain Sustainability School
- Training teams to minimise pollution risks, including adherence to local restrictions, safe material handling and effective clean-up procedures
These practices form the building blocks of our approach to environmental responsibility. We’re proud of how far we’ve come – but we’re always pushing further, implementing smarter systems, using greener materials and helping to create a more sustainable future for everyone.
