A couple of weeks ago, we shared the first of our ‘Shout out to our suppliers’ blog series, in which we are recognising some of the brilliant suppliers who have been supporting Sheriff over the years.
While our first blog focussed on roofing and safety systems, today we’re turning our attention to two suppliers who, between them, are providing us with most of our masonry requirements. Keep reading to find out who they are.
Our top masonry suppliers include…
Sheriff Construction (and our sister companies) all require an array of masonry supplies to deliver on our contracts – for instance bricks, concrete, concrete blocks, landscaping stones, a range of sundries like damp proofing materials plus a wide range of tools and equipment. Helping us make sure we have everything we need at the right time are two of our masonry top suppliers – Dorsey and Jewson. Here is a little more about each of them.
Dorsey
Dorsey is an independent and modern supplier with over 30 years of experience and expertise in supplying materials and products to the construction industry. The company is widely respected within the industry for offering a high-quality service, innovative solutions and fast delivery across the South of England. This approach has resulted in Dorsey’s becoming a multi award winning organisation with the distinguished reputation of the UK’s premier brickwork sundry specialist.

Jewson
Opening their first branch in 1836, Jewson now has over 450 branches in the UK, from high up in the Scottish Isles all the way down to Penzance. As well as providing quality everyday building materials and specialist equipment, Jewson has a tool hire service, and their team are always on hand to offer expert advice. The company recently brought Gibbs and Dandy into its fold and Jewson was named National Merchant of the Year at the Builders’ Merchant Journal awards in 2022 and 2023!

“Jewson (and what was previously our local Gibbs and Dandy branch) are in our top list of suppliers for good reason. They supply to all four of our businesses, offering competitive rates and great solutions to our requirements. If we have an issue with materials or equipment on a site, we know we can call them and it will be taken care of. Jewson also collaborates well with us to manage stock deliveries in ways that are efficient and suitable for each site.”
