A couple of weeks ago, we shared the first of our ‘Shout out to our suppliers’ blog series, in which we are recognising some of the brilliant suppliers who have been supporting Sheriff over the years.

While our first blog focussed on roofing and safety systems, today we’re turning our attention to two suppliers who, between them, are providing us with most of our masonry requirements. Keep reading to find out who they are.

Arriving on the construction scene as a small gang of builders back in 2005, we have grown into a much larger enterprise that now comprises of two construction companies (Sheriff Construction and Sheriff Brickworks) plus two property development companies.

We could not have managed this level of growth without the fantastic suppliers that have supported us along the way, often for many years. So, we thought it was about time we used our blog to shine the spotlight on some of them. Read on for part 1 of this ‘shout out to our suppliers’ series.

Earlier this year, we reported that Sheriff had won the January 2024 IKO Contractor Recognition Award for two of our roofing projects and was in the running for the year’s overall IKO award.

We’re happy to report that, out of all the companies IKO works with across the country, Sheriff picked up the second place ‘Highly Commended’ award at the ceremony last week. Take a look at this week’s blog for more.

Last week, Sheriff Construction was delighted to be presented with a trophy as the winner of the January 2024 IKO Contractor Recognition Award for our roofing projects at the former Ford HQ in Brentwood and Epping Gate.

This is the second time Sheriff has been recognised by IKO, having been ‘Highly Commended’ in relation to our roofing works in Charlton back in 2021. Find out more in this week’s blog.

Back in November last year, we reported on a free masterclass for bricklayers that was being offered by the Home Builders Federation (HBF) and how an equivalent opportunity would soon be made available for roofers.

This month, the HBF have released that opportunity so, if improving your roofing skills is on your ‘to do’ list, read on.

With the end of the year approaching, Sheriff’s team came together on Saturday night to eat, drink, dance and generally ‘be merry’ at our Christmas party.

As well as this being the moment when everyone starts enjoying the festivities, it’s always a time when we, at Sheriff Construction, like to look back and review what kind of year we’ve had. Read this week’s blog for a few of 2023’s highlights.

Thousands of brickies and roofers across England, Wales and Scotland are set to benefit from a major new fully-funded training initiative that aims to upskill the workforce and address common defects.

As part of the industry’s ongoing commitment to building quality homes and with CITB funding, the Home Builders Federation’s (HBF) ‘Home Building Skills Partnership’ has begun delivering a series of brickwork masterclasses and will be rolling out brand-new roofing masterclasses soon. Find out more about these free training opportunities in this week’s blog.

According to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), almost one in five deaths in the construction industry involves roof work, the most common causes being falls from roof edges or through fragile surfaces.

The saddest thing about this statistic is that a great many of these accidents could have been avoided through the implementation of proper safety measures – using the correct equipment and ensuring workers receive adequate information, instruction, training and supervision. Take a moment to read this week’s blog for some key safety tips.

On Saturday, Sheriff Construction’s team members, their families and others who work alongside us came together for the annual Christmas bash.

Held at Venue 360’s Balcony Bar, it was a night of eating, drinking and of course dancing! Around 80 people came along and, as always, it was great to see everyone enjoying the festivities. Our thanks to everyone who joined us for this brilliant night out.

Although there are a few weeks left of 2022, whenever we host this party, it always seems like the right time to reflect on the year gone by. Once again it has been a busy year with lots of changes and some ups and downs in Sheriff’s world. In this week’s blog, we’ve picked out some of our highlights.

There was a time when the idea of including a flat roof in a building design would have been considered risky, largely because of the kind of roofing materials used during the 1950s and 60s which proved to be not that durable and had a reputation for leaks. However, the technology has moved on so much since then and today we have flat-roofing solutions which provide exceptional waterproofing, are resistant to tear or puncture and have a much longer lifespan than their predecessors.

Perhaps the best thing about modern flat-roofing is that, providing it has been professionally installed, it should only ever require some simple routine maintenance. With the Autumn bringing leaves and debris onto our roofs, now is the time to get that maintenance done. Follow our advice in this week’s blog.
