All about the certificates

With 2020 continuing to be tough for many, we could all do with something to celebrate, right?

How about the fact that not only are we still celebrating our 15th anniversary, but Sheriff Construction has also successfully gained/ renewed several accreditations this year. Collectively, these prove our continued high standards of professionalism, quality assurance and compliance with UK health and safety legal obligations.

Here’s a run-down of our key achievements:

Constructionline – Earlier this year, raised our membership level of Constructionline (the UK’s largest register for pre-qualified contractors and consultants.) to GOLD! As well as demonstrating the strength of our professional standards, gold status means we are pre-qualified to undertake contracts from most main Contractors.

Builder’s Profile – Sheriff has premium membership of this open access data exchange service which provides PQQ information/compliance to the construction industry.

Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS) – Our certificate of accreditation for this widely acknowledged Registered Safety Scheme in Procurement (SSIP) was renewed this September.

Safety Management Advisory Services (SMAS) – We were also approved as a worksafe Contractor with this SSIP once again this September.

Quality Assured National Warranties (QAWN) – In June, we were proud to become members of QAWN, one of the UK’s leading providers of insurance backed guarantee schemes.

In addition to these company-wide accreditations, our team members are offered a continuous programme of training and improvement. What all of this means is that, when a contractor awards us with a brickwork or roofing package, they can rest assured in the knowledge that our credentials and performance will stand up to the best in the industry.

Looking at 100 of the world’s largest cities across six continents, the latest Arcadis International Construction Costs (ICC) report ranked London first, ahead of Geneva, Oslo, New York City and then Copenhagen. Find out more in this week’s blog.

Always score an eight out of ten

One of our team just came back from an overnight trip full of praise for the hotel they stayed in and its management.

Not only was this because the hotel was great but also because of an email the manager had sent within minutes of them checking in, which explained the high standards they wanted to achieve and what guests should do if anything falls short of that. Planning system blamed for UK housing shortage

Housebuilders are applauding a report by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) that pins the blame for the UK’s housing shortage on the country’s planning system, not on construction companies.

Is building control on the brink of breakdown?

A leading figure in building control for England and Wales has warned that a new requirement for inspectors to register with a new Building Safety Regulator is leading to an impending breakdown in the system.
