Many people know the Sheriff name for our expertise in delivering roofing, waterproofing and brickwork contracts across London and the South East of England but did you know our business has grown into a wider group of specialist companies over the last 20 years?

From our early beginnings as a family-run brickwork company back in 2005, we’ve evolved into Sheriff Construction (roofing), Sheriff Brickworks (masonry), Crestview Homes (property development) and McLains (estate agency/ property services). Keep reading to learn more about each of these businesses and how our journey continues to evolve.

Three construction workers on site, talking to each other face-to-face, representing effective communication

Deaf Awareness Week (4 – 10 May) is an important opportunity to recognise the experiences of people who are deaf or have hearing loss, and to reflect on how we can create more inclusive environments in everyday life and at work.

Last year, we marked this week by sharing a blog on communication challenges in construction and how simple changes can make a big difference. That piece led to something far more meaningful than we could have anticipated – it connected us with a local college and Rehan, a student looking for an opportunity in the industry. Read on to learn more about Deaf Awareness Week, Rehan’s story and how we can all communicate more effectively.

Model of a house with model people set on top of building plans and scale for energy efficiency

With energy costs continuing to be a major concern for households across the UK, the cost of running a home is now a key factor for buyers, developers and the wider construction sector. Alongside affordability and supply, energy efficiency is playing an increasingly important role in shaping decisions about housing.

Recent research shows that new build homes are, on average, 21% cheaper to run than older properties, offering significant long-term savings for homeowners and renters. Read on to find out what’s driving this difference and what it means for the future of housebuilding.

Join us in remembering our most special moments through our last blog of 2025.

This week, three members of the Sheriff Brickworks team delivered online workshops to Level 1 and Level 2 bricklaying students at Barnet College.

The sessions were held at the request of our client, Fairview, as part of their commitment to supporting the local community around the Victoria Quarter site (where Sheriff is currently delivering a major brickwork contract). Find out more in an extra mini blog for this week.

With the end of the year approaching, Sheriff’s team came together on Saturday night to eat, drink, dance and generally ‘be merry’ at our Christmas party.

As well as this being the moment when everyone starts enjoying the festivities, it’s always a time when we, at Sheriff Construction, like to look back and review what kind of year we’ve had. Read this week’s blog for a few of 2023’s highlights.

Sheriff Construction is delighted to announce that we’ve just secured our biggest brickwork contract to date. Valued at just over £6.1m, the deal will see our team supporting a major UK housebuilder at 5-acre regeneration site in Woolwich, London.

This is a significant win for Sheriff Construction as it cements the strong relationship we’ve built up with this client (who we’re not naming right now due to our protocols around confidentiality) and will provide our team with at least 2-years’ worth of secure work. The contract is also among the first to be secured since our company restructured, meaning the job will be managed through our sister company, Sheriff Brickworks.
